Palliative Care and Hospice Care-What's the Difference?

This past week we lost a remarkable woman--First Lady Barbara Bush.  Shortly before she passed away, an announcement was made that Mrs. Bush had elected to receive comfort care or palliative care.  End of life care is an unpleasant conversation on a good day.  But her passing caused many to ask the question what is palliative care and is it the same as hospice care.  To understand the difference between these two treatments, please click here to read a short article which explains the difference.  

And finally, I thought I would close the week with one of Barbara Bush's quotes:  "At the end of your life, you will never regret not having passed one more test, not winning one more verdict or not closing one more deal.  You will regret time not spent with a husband, a friend, a child, or a parent."
